Ruben Martinez

Owner & General Contractor

After high school, my four long years at Yale were surreal… especially since I went to Miami-Dade, where I failed English Composition 6 times. Needless to say, school was not my strong suit. I didn’t know what direction I was heading until an old friend from high school reached out to me- his dad owned a construction company, and they needed someone to do general labor on a few retail job sites. I’d never worked construction before, but I caught on quick. Being able to create and fix things with my own hands that people would go on to use in their daily lives was [and still is] extremely gratifying.

After ten years of working with them, my wife Jessica and I got the opportunity to invest in a small handyman company after a profitable real estate closing. I bought a pickup and began providing domestic services all over Miami while she helped in the management aspects. Soon enough, we went from general retail repairs to reconstructing an entire bathroom. A bathroom turned into a kitchen, a kitchen turned into a single family residence, which turned into an even bigger residence. Today, Tinez Construction is one of the most highly regarded boutique construction and design companies nationwide servicing both retail and residential. Take that, English Comp.

Hobbies: Fishing, spending time with my family and watching movies.

Owner & Project Manager

At 15 years old, I landed my first job as a mortgage real estate assistant. In two years time, I became a mortgage processor before even graduating from high school. When I finally did graduate, I continued in the field and soon obtained my real estate license. It was a safe paycheck and I was good at the job, but I didn’t feel like I was challenging myself enough. I decided to venture out on my own as an agent, which is where I got the opportunity to learn about the construction business firsthand.

Alongside my husband, Ruben, we decided to open Tinez Construction with the profit I earned from a real estate closing. With his years of experience in the industry and the managing skills I’d gained from my career as an agent, we began with just us two: I handled our accounts and project scheduling while he completed the jobs. We doubled our growth year after year, expanding our team, talents, and clientele. Through demand, we have grown into a fully functioning boutique construction and design firm that serves retail, residential remodels and custom homes, providing full turn-key service in the US and Caribbean. We take pride in the quality of our work and always treat our clients as family no matter how big or small the project.

Hobbies: Problem-solving, baking, entertaining at home, and spending time with my beautiful family.
